The Soviet Union was the first state to establish official diplomatic relations with the Chinese People’s Republic proclaimed in 1949. On February 14, 1950, a friendship, union and mutual assistance between the USSR and China for a period of 30 years was signed in Moscow. Having shown unprecedented loyalty to the PRC, abandoning many claims of the USSR in the territory of China, Stalin acted in the strategic interests of strengthening the “eternal and indestructible friendship” with the Far Eastern neighbor. The picture depicts Soviet and Chinese statesmen, including Mojo, Mao Zedong and Zhou Enlai.
