The artist is Frolova -Bagrev
In accordance with the canons of socialist realism, the picture was built on the principle of the story, and contemporaries could read it as an open book. On the floor-a carelessly and hastily open suitcase, an officer tunic with combat orders hangs on the back of the chair: the audience is the return of the winning hero, his first morning at home. Behind all the hardships of life in the besieged Leningrad, and now the city itself meets its liberator with a wide bright panorama of the Neva River in open windows. The artist’s personal story was woven into a typical plot: she herself survived the Leningrad blockade, and her husband was an officer of the Baltic Fleet.
