The topic of return is one of the most piercing and tragic in post -war art. The painter-Frontovik Alexander Romanchev creates in 1964 the “Father’s House”-a soldier who has just returned from the front, stands on the threshold of an empty native house. We do not see his faces, but in this dumb scene an acute spiritual drama is laid down, the tragedy of the loss of loved ones. A soldier stands in a daze, faced with a reality of loss.
