Each era produced its own Lenin. The period of the “Khrushchev thaw” enthusiastically reanimated the romance and poetry of the revolution. He called the image of Lenin – a romantic hero to life. In the picture of Devyatov, a concentrated, tilted forward figure of the leader confronts the oncoming stream of a sharp wind, which effectively flounders the floors of a black coat and is read as a wind of change, again believing over the country. The painting “October Wind” was nominated for the Lenin Prize and represented Soviet art at international exhibitions. (L. Sh.)
